The upload flow

Guests scan one QR code

Galeira gives your wedding one QR code that lives on the table cards, the welcome sign, the back of the program, and the slideshow screen. A guest raises a phone, points the camera at the code, and the wedding upload page opens in the browser they already trust. There is no store page, no permission popup before the camera roll, and no waiting room. The page is branded with the couple's names and a short instruction, so the guest understands in two seconds that this is the right place to drop the photos they already took.

One QR code works because a wedding crowd is mixed. Older relatives, friends in different countries who joined later, and the photographer's second shooter all use the same code from the same sign. Galeira tracks each upload by the guest's chosen display name and timestamp, not by a logged-in identity, which means a grandparent who is not on social media uploads exactly the same way a twenty-five-year-old does. The result is a single stream of photos and videos that flows into the host gallery within seconds of being taken on the dance floor.

  • One QR works for table cards, signs, programs, and the slideshow
  • Camera scan opens a browser page, no app store detour
  • Branded with the couple's names so guests know they are in the right place
  • Each upload is tagged with display name and timestamp
  • Works on iOS and Android with the default camera
Friction removed

No app, no login, no confused guests

Most wedding photo apps ask the guest to download a native app, create an account, verify an email or phone number, and then find the right event before they can upload a single photo. At a wedding, that flow loses people. The relative who only uses a phone for calls will not install anything. The friend from abroad on roaming will not sign up for another service. The guest holding a drink will not tap through five screens. Galeira removes every one of those steps.

A Galeira upload page is just a web page. The guest scans, sees the couple's names, picks photos and videos from the camera roll, taps upload, and is done. There is no password to remember, no two-factor code, no profile to set up, and no app icon left on the home screen afterward. The host does not have to send a follow-up reminder or troubleshoot anyone's account. Friction at the moment of capture is what determines whether the photos arrive at all, and Galeira is built to keep that friction near zero so the long tail of casual photos actually makes it into the gallery.

  • No app install required on iOS or Android
  • No guest account, no email or phone verification
  • No password reset emails after the wedding
  • Works on borrowed phones and shared family devices
  • One page, one upload button, done in seconds
Quality preserved

Full-resolution photos and videos

Wedding photos are not group chat photos. They are the frame your sister caught of the first kiss from her seat in the third row, and the short video clip of the speech that the photographer was not standing next to. Group chats and many photo apps compress those files heavily, which strips colour, smooths skin, and removes the resolution you would need to print or to edit later. Galeira receives and stores the original file the phone produced, including the camera metadata, the full pixel count, and the original codec for video.

Video uploads are first-class on Galeira. Guests can send clips from the ceremony processional, the speeches, and the dancing without converting or trimming them first. The gallery shows them inline alongside the photos, and the host can download the originals as a single archive. Because the original file is what gets stored and mirrored, the version you keep ten years from now is the same file the guest's phone captured, not a compressed thumbnail that has lost its detail.

  • Original file preserved, not a compressed thumbnail
  • Photo metadata kept for date, camera, and orientation
  • Video uploads handled the same way as photos
  • Inline playback in the gallery for clips and reels
  • Bulk download of full-resolution originals for the host
Cannot vanish

Backup originals to your own cloud

Galeira is the only wedding photo app where approved originals mirror to a cloud account you already own. You connect Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, an S3 bucket, or a WebDAV server once during setup. From that moment, every photo or video that you approve in the gallery is copied into a folder inside your own account, in the original resolution, with a filename that includes the guest's display name and the upload timestamp. The host always has a second copy in a place the host controls.

This matters at a wedding because the value of the photos is measured in decades. A backup receipt page in your host dashboard lists every file, its original size, the destination it was mirrored to, and the timestamp of the successful copy. If a year from now you want to verify that a specific clip from the speeches is safely in your Dropbox, you can. If you ever leave Galeira, the photos stay where you already keep your other files. The mirror is the mechanism behind the calm promise that the night is recorded somewhere you trust.

  • Connect Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, S3, or WebDAV
  • Approved originals mirror into a folder you own
  • Filenames include guest name and upload timestamp
  • Backup receipt lists every file and its destination
  • Files remain in your connected cloud account if you leave
Own-cloud backup

Back up originals to a cloud you already own.

Galeira stores the event gallery so guests can view and download it, but the important part is ownership. When you connect a cloud destination, approved originals mirror to a place you control: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, S3, or WebDAV. The backup-status page shows what copied, what is pending, and what needs attention.

External cloud-provider outages and account deletions are outside Galeira's control — which is exactly why the receipt matters. You can verify, retry, and export while your archive is active.

How Galeira compares to the methods people try

Each method gets photos somewhere. The differences are in friction, quality, privacy, and what you can recover afterward.

MethodWhere it breaksHow Galeira fixes it
Google PhotosRequires every guest to have a Google account, sign in, and join a shared album. Older relatives skip it, and the photos end up in someone else's library.Guests upload from any browser with no account. Galeira mirrors approved originals to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, S3, or WebDAV. Google Photos appears here as a DIY/shared-album alternative — Galeira does not currently offer it as a connectable mirror destination while OAuth verification is in progress.
WhatsAppGroup chats compress photos and videos heavily, files expire from device storage, and the stream is mixed with chat messages that are hard to archive.Originals are stored uncompressed in a private gallery and mirrored to your own cloud, separated from any chat thread.
iMessageShared albums are limited to Apple users, exclude Android guests entirely, and depend on each contributor's iCloud account staying active. One web link works on every phone, and the host owns the final archive regardless of which devices the guests used.
disposable camerasFilm takes weeks to develop, many frames are unusable, and there is no video. The cost per usable photo is high and the turnaround misses the post-wedding thank-you window.Digital originals arrive within seconds, video is included, and the host can send a gallery link with the thank-you note.
hashtagsA hashtag depends on guests posting publicly, which many will not do. Posts get buried, get deleted, or sit behind private accounts the couple cannot see.A QR code captures everyone, public posters and private ones alike, into one private gallery the couple controls.
generic QR generatorA plain QR pointing at a shared folder still requires the guest to log in, has no moderation, and has no backup receipt or guest-friendly upload page.Galeira gives you a branded upload page, host moderation, and a verifiable mirror to the cloud account you already own.

Questions hosts ask before they create the QR

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Galeira opens in the phone's default browser as soon as the guest scans the QR code. There is nothing to install on iOS or Android, and nothing left on the phone after the wedding.

Do guests need an account?

No. Guests pick a display name and upload. There is no email verification, password, or social login. The host controls who can reach the upload page by sharing the QR code and the optional passcode.

Can guests upload videos?

Yes. Videos are first-class on Galeira and upload through the same page as photos. The original file is preserved, and the host sees clips inline in the gallery.

Can guests see the gallery?

Only if you choose to share the gallery link with them. By default uploads go in privately, and the host decides whether to open a viewing link, a slideshow, or keep the gallery for the couple only.

Can I approve photos before they appear?

Yes. You can switch on hold-for-approval so every new upload waits in a review queue until you tap approve. This is useful for sensitive moments, children in the frame, or anything you would prefer to vet before it appears on the venue screen.

Can I download everything?

Yes. The host dashboard offers bulk download of the full-resolution originals as a single archive. Photos and videos keep their original file size and metadata.

Can Galeira back up to Google Drive?

Yes. Google Drive is one of the supported mirror destinations, along with Dropbox, OneDrive, S3, and WebDAV. Approved originals are copied into a folder inside the account you connect.

How long does setup take?

Most couples set up a wedding event in under ten minutes. You name the event, pick a date, connect a cloud destination if you want mirroring, and download the QR code as a printable PDF.

Is this private?

Yes. Galleries are private by default and reachable only through the link or QR you share. You can add a passcode, restrict viewing to specific email addresses, and close uploads on a chosen date.

What should I put on my wedding QR sign?

Keep it simple. The couple's names, the words "Scan to share photos and videos," and the QR code itself are enough. Galeira offers printable sign templates you can drop into a frame on the table cards or the welcome easel.

How long are photos stored?

Files remain in your Galeira gallery according to your plan, and approved originals also remain in your connected cloud account for as long as you keep that account. The backup receipt lists every file and its destination so you can verify the copies anytime.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. You can create an event, generate a QR, and collect uploads on the free tier. Paid plans add larger storage, longer retention, additional mirror destinations, and removal of Galeira branding from the upload page.
