Why baby shower photos disappear into camera rolls
A baby shower is a soft, slow afternoon. Someone holds up a tiny knitted hat, someone else cries a little at the toast, and twelve phones come out at once. By the time the cake is cut, every guest has a handful of photos — and every one of those photos is stuck on a different phone, in a different camera roll, on a different cloud account.
The group chat helps for about a day. People send the three photos they like best, the chat scrolls, the rest are forgotten. A week later you remember your aunt took a beautiful shot of your mother touching your bump, but you have no idea how to ask for it without sounding like you are chasing people. Three months later, when the baby is here and you finally have a free hour, the photos are gone.

Privacy-first defaults — closed gallery, optional passcode
A baby shower is not a public event, and a Galeira gallery is not a public page. By default the gallery is closed: only people who scanned your QR or received your link can see what is inside. Search engines do not index it, and there is no public feed.
For an extra layer of privacy you can add a passcode. Print it on the same little card as the QR, or write it on the chalkboard at the door — anyone without the code sees a friendly “this gallery is private” screen and nothing else. If a link is forwarded outside your guest list, the passcode stops it cold.
Guests do not need to make an account. They scan, they upload, they go back to their cupcakes. They cannot see the full guest list, they cannot see each other’s contact details, and they cannot turn the gallery into a public album. You are the only host. Every upload is tagged with the guest’s chosen first name (or “a friend”) so you know who sent what, without anyone having to surrender an email address.
Saving the album for the baby book / pregnancy album
The baby shower album is not a one-day thing. It is the first chapter of a much longer book — the pregnancy album, the baby book, the slideshow at the first birthday. Galeira treats it that way.
Every photo your guests upload is backed up, in the original resolution, to your own cloud. You connect Google Drive, Dropbox, or your own S3-compatible bucket once at setup, and from then on every upload lands in a folder you own. If you delete the gallery in a year, the photos in your Drive stay exactly where they are. If Galeira ever goes away, your album does not.
When you sit down with a designer to make the baby book, you do not have to chase relatives or dig through a group chat. You open one folder, drag the photos you want, and the rest of the afternoon is yours. The album is also exportable as a single ZIP, sorted by uploader and timestamp, so a print-shop or a book-making service can ingest it without any extra work.
Following up with a thank-you message + a link to the cloud copy
A week or two after the shower, when the thank-you cards are going out, you can include one more small thing in the envelope — a link to the gallery, with the passcode. It is a quiet, kind way of telling your guests: thank you for being there, here is what we all made together.
Galeira can send the thank-you for you, or you can copy the link into your own cards. The follow-up message is short, plain, and never markets anything. It says thank you, here is the album, here is the password, with love. Guests who scan the QR at the shower are automatically on the list, so you do not have to rebuild it from memory.
When the baby arrives, you can reuse the same gallery (or open a fresh one and link them together) so the same circle of people can keep adding photos through the first weeks at home. The album becomes a soft, continuous record of how this child was loved, from before they were born.
Back up originals to a cloud you already own.
Galeira stores the event gallery so guests can view and download it, but the important part is ownership. When you connect a cloud destination, approved originals mirror to a place you control: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, S3, or WebDAV. The backup-status page shows what copied, what is pending, and what needs attention.
External cloud-provider outages and account deletions are outside Galeira's control — which is exactly why the receipt matters. You can verify, retry, and export while your archive is active.

Questions hosts ask before they create the QR
Is the gallery really private?
Yes. By default only people who scan your QR or receive your link can view the gallery. It is not listed on Galeira, it is not indexed by search engines, and you can add a passcode on top for extra privacy.
Do guests need to install an app?
No. Guests scan the QR with their phone’s normal camera, the upload page opens in their browser, and they pick photos from their camera roll. No app, no account, no signup.
How long does it take to set up before the shower?
About five minutes. Pick a gallery name, choose private or passcode-protected, connect your own cloud (optional but recommended), print the QR card, and you are done.
What if a relative cannot attend?
Send them the gallery link. They can view the album from anywhere, leave small reactions on photos, and download individual favourites — without making an account.
Where do the photos actually live?
On Galeira while the gallery is active, and in your own cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, or any S3-compatible bucket) as a permanent backup. You own the originals, always.
Can I download the whole album at once?
Yes. From your host dashboard you can export the full gallery as a ZIP, sorted by uploader and time, in original resolution — ready for a print book or a baby album.
Can I keep the gallery open after the shower for the birth?
Yes. You can keep the same gallery active for weeks or months, or open a new one for the birth and link them together so the same circle of people keeps adding photos.
What if a guest uploads something I do not want in the album?
You can hide or remove any photo from the host dashboard with one tap. The photo is removed from public view immediately; you decide whether to delete it from your cloud too.
Can grandparents in another country use it in their own language?
Yes. The guest-facing pages — upload, view, react — are localised, so the buttons appear in each guest’s own language based on their phone.
